So Which is Better For Skinny Guys To Build Muscle?
It has been a quite a long time since I’ve taken the time to post an infographic related to weight training and gaining muscle. And here is an all time favorite debate for most people.”Which is Better For Skinny Guys To Build Muscle? Machines or Free weights?”
So Which is Better For Skinny Guys To Gain Muscle? You might ask?
In summary, it’s way better to have both of them in your arsenal.
Nothing beats the old fashioned free weights because they train you in functional strength, meaning you get functionally stronger as you do them.
Exercises that use free weights are way harder to do than machine exercises mainly because they also utilize not only your target muscles but your stabilizer muscles as welly
However, to get train for hypertrophy you really need to push yourself to the limit, especially when your targeting your chest muscles. (When you train your chest, hit them really hard, with proper form of course).
Notice how much easier it is to do the decline / inclined bench press on a smith machine rather than on an actual bench? It’s because you use less of your shoulders as stabilizers since the movement is purely up and down. No more side ways or balancing act needed.
So you can target more chest muscle at the last part of your workout session by using the smith machine, since by that time most likely, your shoulders would have been exhausted by doing all those bench exercises.
Lastly, when your on your last stretch of the workout, you’ll most likely have less strength, so you’ll need to be more safer when doing your workout.
Since some machine workouts are generally safer since they are build that way, it’s much better to reach failure on a seated bench than on an actual bench press, needless to say.
